Little by little things are making progress. A new choke cable now makes her startable on the cold mornings, air cleaner assembly has been cleaned up, and new front clear indicator lenses fabricated. I still need one of the original clear lenses if anybody out there has one. In the mean time (pics coming soon), we have managed to grind two temporary ones out of prismatic clear perspex.
The search for a complete set of badges is almost complete, managed to find these on ebay... was advertised as 2 x Capella badges with a few extras for the hell of it. It was the extras that caught my attention! A full set of individual letters for the boot, a spare rear quarter badge and one of the two required 1000 badges. As for the RE and Capella stuff... might hold onto them in case of an RX2 making its way into the family later on.

Time for some pics from last weekend!
It will be a while before the weather is good enough for spraying acrylic so tried a small section of paintwork with a good cut and polish... hoping to help make her respectable enough to visit a mechanic for a good check up later on, and alas, under the sun fade and dust its not too bad!

Front section and valance after much degreasing, a few sections will need light panel beating and rust treatment, but overall pretty good.

Look at that bright original magenta!

Body ache... the bane of the unfit home mechanic. By the end of the weekend it was like a full body work out had ravished the arms and legs for hours! Not bad progress though, the front indicators are off and disassembled ready for clean up, front grill, garnish and bumper are off too, with many a rusted bolt / screw drilled out and re-threaded. The plan is to replace all such nuts and bolts with new ones making for easier dismantling later on prior to repainting.
We need a few parts soon such as:
* Front bonnet Mazda cursive badge
* One 1000 badge (found the other one on ebay, along with rear boot badge which should be arriving soon).
* New tailight lenses
* Front indicator lens
* Front bench seat
Current plan of attack is to start and the front on the exterior and painfully work along all the way to the rear, cleaning up and treating rust, beating panels, removing seized parts and muck as we go.
May have found a NOS grill, grill badge and grill garnish already too... not bad for one week :-)
