Just felt like adding some pics of my past project, a 1970 Datsun 1600 sedan... which is very much missed. We hope you are well cared for and going strong! She was over two years work... and several times we remember saying "never again!"... well, here we go again :D This time we have learnt from our mistakes. Must find some pics of the Datsun before this one... was beautiful 2pack Sting Red with the most lovely interior you've ever seen.

Most of the morning was spent under the car dislodging years of grease, muck and grime, in order to assess the rust situation. Well blow me down! She is very clean down under and no rust was found apart from the small hole under the drivers feet (which we knew about anyway). Car must have shed about 5 kilos of muck.
The original back seat bum section has been scrubbed and cleaned back to a brilliant white. Pics coming soon. Parcel shelf is out to cut a new less warped one... the fuel tank sender seems to be in good order so that is out of the equation for the fuel tank guage non-operation.
Jonathan of Japanese Restorer magazine has pledged support with the suspension bushing situation so will keep you posted how we go.
Steering wheel has been removed again to realign to the front wheels and while it was off whole assembly got a good cleaning. The vinyl sections in the front quarters of the interior have had a good clean / degrease also and look a lot better... will need to retrim at some point in the distant future.
After all this work went for a cruise around the block a few times to keep everything turning, and got home to realise in the mirror that their was a huge chunk of grease under my eye... must have looked like a crazed rock star.. thankfully nobody that knew me saw my greasy state in the local area :D
The more we work on this car the more we are appreciating the build quality of this thing, its like a little japanese pink tank!
